What it is about
The story is set in 1993. Ryu and Ken, two fighters who have drifted apart, are recruited by Chun-Li for the next World Warrior Tournament. They soon discover that the tournament hides a conspiracy that turns them against each other and against their own past.
The martial arts angle
The casting is the most interesting part for martial arts fans. Andrew Koji, the star of the series Warrior, plays Ryu, and Vidyut Jammwal, one of India's best-known action stars and a practitioner of Kalaripayattu, plays Dhalsim. Two of the biggest names in professional wrestling, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, take on Akuma and Guile. Director Kitao Sakurai comes from comedy, and the film has been presented as an action comedy, so expect a lighter tone than a classic fight film.
